We got Chris' pictures back last week, and just now finally got around to adding them to the online gallery. There was some overlap with the ones we got from Catherine, so we kind of mixed and matched the best of everything. We still have to go through and decide exactly what we want to have printed up, but for now the online album tells a pretty complete story.

I watched video of the beginning of the ceremony last night...

I knew the candle thing took a while and we were fully aware that the procession was going to be long, but yikes. I'm sorry for everyone who had to sit there awkwardly, waiting for things to get started. The idea was that the long procession would be this grand, regal thing. Instead it must have just been painful. Especially for the musicians, who later missed the recessional because they were all prepared to play the candle-lighting music.

Oh well, at least everything else went according to plan.

On a happier note, we took Catherine's film in to be developed yesterday; won't get it back until Sunday or Monday. I'm excited to see how they turned out. Chris is working on the digital ones too...all my relatives thought we'd hired them. Yay for photographer friends :)

Now we're just an old married couple...

We're home, we're back to work, and we're married.

Cozumel was a lot of fun, despite very minor sunburns and somewhat less minor digestive problems. Overall a very fun and relaxing trip, though. Click here to see photos.

Once we get through all the photos everyone took, we'll put a gallery online for you all.

We are in Cozumel (and will not use contractions because we cannot find the stupid apostrophe key on this wacky Spanish keyboard!).

We changed our facebook profiles to indicate our marriage status, because that is what is really important in life. THE FACEBOOK.

We have been swimming, kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling, which makes us wonder why we put up with getting together with you guys and playing board games and boring stuff like that. Did anyone buy us a sailboat as a wedding present? We want one.

We will be back on Sunday, at which point we will open all of the wedding presents, at which point, we will decide which of our friends we will continue to be friends with as a married couple.

My parents got in yesterday afternoon, Danny should have gotten in last night, and Hunter should have landed in Pittsburgh about an hour ago. The boys and dads go pick up tuxes today.

The flowers got delivered yesterday, so our entire fridge is now filled with roses. We've even got the fridge in the apartment above us plugged in.

With less than a day and a half to go until the I Do moment, the biggest worry right now is probably the weather. Up until today, it looked like rain was going to wash away the heat and clear out before our ceremony, but it now looks like we might not be so lucky. With current forecasts predicting a downpour essentially right when we wed, I need everyone out there to either pray for good weather or go outside and toward the sky in a generally westerly direction. At the same time. Go to it!

8 days, 4 hours, and some rapidly decreasing number of minutes! Or rather, this long!

My parents and grandparents arrive Wednesday.

Thursday we have to get the dress, the wine, the flowers, and make some unknown number of trips to the airport.

Friday, more airport trips, tux fittings, manicure/pedicure(?) if there's time, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and any final attemps at throwing "bachelor/ette" parties.

Saturday morning tea, hair/makeup, dressing, photo call, setup, wedding, reception, and strike!

It's just like tech week!

If anyone needs a ride from the airport or hotel reservations or anything like that, speak now or forever hold your peace!

We're getting married in 19 days! Aaaahh!!!!

The theatre decided to be nice and close the box office today and tomorrow, so I'm enjoying a mini-vacation at home, pretending to have a hangover from wine tasting with my sister last night. Really if I'm sick at all today it's because of the ridiculous amounts of cheese we consumed with the wine...

But progress continues to be made! I had my final dress fitting, ceremony music is pretty much nailed down, favors have been ordered, and my anal-retentive sister has outlined where everyone needs to be all weekend. We even have the beginnings of a playlist, which contains plenty of '80s music for Zach and all the rest of you Dancing Queens.

Now if you'll excuse me I have three more bottles of wine to finish...

We have now accomplished everything we intended to do last week, including planning the ceremony with the Pastor and the menu with the caterer, and ordering flowers. We even found musicians!

Turns out our caterer is Dutch, and he appeared mildly upset when Scott said he liked the Germans in the world cup. Hopefully he won't spit in all our food.

Unrelatedly, we fixed a lamp!

Most of the response cards have come back, though there are still a few delinquents out there. Yeah, I'm talking about you, Tarnow. You too, Atkinson.

Next week we meet with the caterer/manager of the visitor's center AND the pastor who'll be performing the ceremony. Hopefully most of the loose ends will be tied up shortly thereafter.

Flowers and favors are also on the "must buy" list for this week...

Scott says we should mention that we love each other very much.

We handed out a very few invitations last week,* and Laurel wins the prize for sending her response card in first. Beej was demoted to ringbearer for leaving his invitation in the Connan Room.

The reprinted invitations came, sans typo this time. Envelopes are being addressed by the lovely Miss Dahl (hmm...won't be able to refer to her as that in several months) with some calligraphy pens that we bought ourselves.

Two weekends ago, we went out to Bethel Bakery, tasted some cakes, and looked at some designs. They're a nice little bakery that was recently featured on a WQED documentary. We've put down a deposit and will continue to fine-tune our decoration and filling choices over the coming month or so.

This past Saturday, we went with best man Brian to Top Hat Tuxedo, which (I swear!) is better than its web site design lets on. We tried on numerous things, and left with the satisfaction of knowing that our tux shopping was essentially over. I'll have to get measurements for the out-of-town guys, but that's about all. I'm currently still top-hat-less, which may or may not change; I think Brian and I convinced the owner to buy a more traditional top hat for his store that I may try on at a later date.

We got the permit! The deputy director was very nice, the hold up was just because they were worried there was a conflict with another event. Luckily the Vintage Grand Prix is going to be the weekend before, so we're good to go!

I just bought the domain www.scott-n-katie.com for a year. Some couple bought up both www.scottandkatie.com and www.scottandkatie.net. Why both? Because they're a greedy, greedy couple that wants ever other couple name Scott and Katie have to look at this little blog.

To be fair, their baby has a bow on her head. And I know they look like nice people. I mean, they probably are. But why buy up both domains if you're not trying to top Google's search for the terms Scott and Katie? Why torment other couples with your wily Internet ways? Why??

In other news, we're working on a registry. Kind of.

After making us wait eight months to apply for a Schenley Park permit, the parks department informed us that they'd rather we just have the wedding in Mellon Park like everyone else. We were then instructed to write a letter to the Deputy Director to see if he'd make an exception.

The letter is now in the mail, so there's nothing left to do but wait.

I bought my dress today.

No photos, but for those of you out there who are girly enough to be amused by such things, you can try and guess which one it is.

The bridesmaids' dresses have also been ordered.

Now we just have to decide which of you all we actually like enough to invite.

I think Katie will be posting a big news update concerning girly things later today, but here's what I have to offer in terms of developments on the manly end of things:

In a surprising twist, Katie's family somehow convinced her to allow me to wear a top hat and tails for the ceremony. The question now stands: should I purchase a collapsible top hat or a non-collapsible one?

I went and looked at some tuxes with best man Brian before the holidays, although I'll clearly have to get the garb from some other store as Afterhours Formalwear - the David's Bridal brother store where we looked - doesn't have any suits or tuxes with tails.

We got a copy of the permit request form from the Pittsburgh Parks people. Hopefully, we're only a hop and step away from securing our ceremony site. The reception reservation contract is still sitting on our table at home. We should really send that in, too.

CourtK and I went bridesmaid dress shopping this past Saturday. I had already kind of picked a favorite but she tried on some other dresses too, just in case the style I like makes my sister look fat or something.

Again, I'd rather not spoil the big day by posting pictures way ahead of time, so here's a picture of Courtney in a dress we're NOT getting. Isn't she pretty?

If all goes as planned, the dresses will be ordered by this time next week.

Then we'll just have to make sure Court can maintain her weight until July. I don't want to have to do emergency alterations because she couldn't keep herself away from the Red Lobster.

I went dress shopping with my sister while she was here for Thanksgiving. I was about to post pictures of my favorites, but walking down the aisle in a dress everyone's seen already seems a little anti-climatic.

Scott still maintains that he'll attend the ceremony dressed in a purple suit with a tophat and a cane.

We're just slackers and haven't really done anything worth posting to this blog. Here's a progress report anyway:

We've kind of reserved the Schenley Park Visitor's Center for Saturday, July 22, 2006. Kind of meaning we didn't actually send in the deposit yet.

We "won" a "free" honeymoon vacation to Mexico or the Dominican Republic from these people. Free meaning we had to sit through a silly cooking demonstration wherein they tried to sell us thousands of dollars worth of pots and pans. We ate their food, declined to buy, but are supposedly still getting our "prize." We'll see if that ever comes through...

My siblings are coming into town for Thanksgiving. If time permits, we may go dress shopping that Sunday afternoon, after a rousing game of touch football.

We're going to Portland for Christmas. During that time, there may be a shower/open house so that friends on the west coast can actually MEET Scott if they're not able to come out to Pittsburgh next summer.

After seeing photos from a friend's recent wedding, I'm growing more and more convinced that I don't want to hire a cheesy wedding photographer. We're considering asking a photographically capable friend to do it instead. Saves money and we won't have to do stupid poses! Who wants to be historian?

...CourtK is going to be a bridesmaid in our wedding. And Scott will be hosting a reality TV show called "Who wants to be my Best Man?" Brian Gray will be the only constestant.

Courtney was kind enough to accompany me to the most ridiculous store in the world this afternoon, at my mother's prompting. "They're having a sale! You have to go look!"

While they do have a very large selection of dresses in stock, the place is the kind of zoo I usually try to avoid. I found one dress I really liked, but only an idiot would buy a dress on the first day of shopping. If after much more investigation I still like it we'll go back, but I'm not really holding my breath.

Later in the afternoon Court, Scott and I went to investigate the "patio" area at the Schenley Park Visitor's Center. Everyone agreed that the place would be large enough and suitably cute, so we may pick a date and reserve it in the very near future. Flagstaff may or may not work out, but we like it as a reception site anyway.

No more news on the wedding front. Hopefully we'll continue to make progress so I can stop filling this blog with stupidity.

The Newlyweds

Yesterday we recieved in the mail a 2 CD compilation of 80s music, no note attached. I figured Scott won it in one of those Entertainment Weekly drawings...last year he won The 80s Game so it seemed likely.

Today, however, we recieved another package. Scott was kind enough to let me open it (I like presents!). I pulled back the sticky flap on the padded envelope, and discovered The Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, the complete 2nd and 3rd season!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!

Then Scott remembered he had won *that* in an Entertainment Weekly drawing, which means he must not have won the 80s CDs because they don't let you win back to back like that. So where did the 80s music come from?

If we have kids, we're naming them Jed and Princess

If anyone cares, there are no pictures yet because the people at Veriozon must have all joined the circus and forgot about filling DSL orders, forcing me to abuse CMU's dial-up access.

The guy from Pittsburgh Public Works finally called back to say that they won't know if we can use Flagstaff until January, what with all the park events not being scheduled yet and all.

The Phipps Garden Center is very close to our apartment, and may be a nice place for a wedding. And much cheaper than the real Phipps. We'll have to check it out sometime when they're actually open.

This post is stupid.

The first place we went to was the Rhododendron Shelter at Highland Park. Note the lack of rhododendrons. It's still pretty, though, and has a large shelter and kitchen in the back. BUT, unless they change or bend the rules, we wouldn't be able to reserve the place until next March.

After Highland Park we made our way over to Riverview Park. Got a little lost, and stumbled upon this little gazebo area. The shelter's actually pretty small and the area's not as well kept as Highland Park, but sort of charming in it's own right. It would still have the same reservation restrictions, though.

One bonus for Riverview, though: they have a chapel. Right now it's in really bad shape, but they're renovating it this season. If it's cute by next year (when it's supposed to reopen) it could be a consideration.

And then there's Flagstaff. Beautiful view of the city. Also significant in that it's close to campus and we've spent time there in the summers, watching movies and such. But when I called to ask about permits the guy was pretty rude and said we'd have to get special permission. When I asked who we had to get permission from he said he'd take my name and number and have the guy in charge call me back. He didn't.

And finally, the Schenley Park Visitor's Center. It's really cute if you've never been there...serves coffee and pastries and stuff during the day and rents out for special events at night. It's right on the other side of Flagstaff, so that's where the reception would be if we decide on Flagstaff for the ceremony.

Hopefully, we'll have pictures up soon. There's also this Schenley Park renovation going on between the Carnegie Library and the Hillman Library that will be opening Spring 2006. It's a possibility but we have no idea what it looks like yet.

So...we looked around a little at some wedding websites and we bought a wedding book (Bridal Bargains). Now what?

It seems we have to pick a date and location (research said we're supposed to do this 12+ months before the actual date! Yikes!). We're looking to have a summer wedding (next summer) and in Pittsburgh, but as for location, we're still shopping around. Any suggestions?

So the reason everyone in Katie's extended family and her dad's place of residence now know about us is because he sends out a "Friday Joke" every week, which is really a life update and a joke (think of it as a blog, where the blog comes to you via email each week).

The "Cutest Couple" honor was bestowed on graduating seniors Katie Dahl (President) and Scott Dai (Managing Director). Seizing the moment, Scott took drama to the next level by proposing marriage to Katie before the crowd of shared friends. Katie said YES ! Parents of the lucky couple were contacted immediately with the happy news. Expect future announcement of a 2006 wedding date.
